I Want to Find a Tutor: In-person Tutoring | Email Tutoring | Online Tutoring

1) How do I find an in-person tutor?

1. Click on “Find a Tutor” on the home page or other pages throughout our website.
2. Choose "in-person tutoring". Note: You may select "All" to find tutors in your area who will conduct tutoring sessions face-to-face and by email or online.
3. Select discipline, subject and state.
4. Click on Submit.
5. A list of matching tutors will appear. Simply browse through the alphabetized counties and cities, and click on the name of the tutor for the county and city you are searching. You may also sort tutors by name or zip code simply by clicking on the column heading. 6. Browse through tutor’s profile which contains information including their education, qualifications, experience, travel capabilities, personal comments and all selected subjects.


2) How do I contact a tutor?
Once you've chosen the tutor you would like to contact, click on "contact this instructor" on top or bottom of of the tutor's profile page. Fill out the form and click on "submit". Your request will be forwarded to the tutor and the tutor will contact you directly. Once the initial contact has been made, you may conduct your personal interview. You may ask for references, availability, tutoring style, travel capabilities, negotiate tutoring fees, or whatever you like. Chat with them and see what they’re like. If more tutors are available in the area you’re searching, contact them as well. The point is to find the right tutor. You can arrange how and where the tutoring sessions will be conducted (e.g. your home, instructor’s home or place of business, public library, school, Starbucks, etc...).

3) What should be the email content of my request to the tutor?

1- Specific subject(s) for which you need a tutor.
2- Student's grade level
3- Describe special circumstances (e.g. student with special needs)
4- Whether you like the tutor to travel to your home
5- How soon you need a tutor
6- Include your telephone number if you like. This is totally up to you.


4) What if there are no tutors listed for my search criteria?
If there are no tutors listed for your search criteria, you will have the opportunity to fill out a request for a tutor in your area. We will list your request on our website and tutors in your area will be able to contact you directly. If the subject you need tutoring for is one that can be taught online, then you might want to search for email/online tutors. This will significantly increase your chances of finding multiple tutors. You may also send us your request by contacting us at support@tutornation.com or 1-866-TUTOR-90. We will do our best and use our resources to find you a qualified tutor as soon as possible.

5) How many tutors should I contact?
There might be a number of tutors listed for your search criteria. Please browse through each tutor's profile and contact those who have more direct experience and expertise in the subject(s) you need help. , It is a good idea to contact several tutors. This will greatly increase the chances of finding a tutor.

6) Tutor has not responded to my request. What should I do?
Most tutors respond to your request very shortly. There might be a delay in aresponse to your request from a tutor. This is due to variety of reasons such as tutor being on vacation or not having access to email. Some tutors are totally booked and sometimes don't bother to respond to a request. If you have not heard from the tutor within a few days, please contact us by email (support@tutornation.com) or call us at 1-866-TUTOR-90. You may want to give us your phone number. We will contact the tutor by phone and ask him/her to get in touch with you ASAP. Remember, If there are multiple tutors for your search criteria, contact several tutors.

7) I need help in a subject that is not listed. What should I do?
We have a comprehensive list of subjects for academic and non-academic subjects, and new subjects are added on regular basis. In case If you need help in a specific subject that is not listed, please feel free to post your request on our web site by filling out this form. Your request will be published automatically and current and new tutors who have expertise in that subject, will contact you shortly. If you want us to consider listing your subject, please send your request to support@tutornation.com.
